Dawn walks on the path of the gods

The path of the gods can be appreciated with all its beauty especially in the early morning.
During the warmer months it is always recommended to walk early in the mountain so to avoid heat and high temperatures.
During winter it’s cold and sometimes it rains but a walk in the early morning can be an excellent choice to keep fit and recharge mind and spirit between the green of the trees and the birds chirping.
Today’s sunrise was wonderfu.
A winter sunset from Nocelle (Positano)

Rain has accompanied our days in Positano for a week.
Finally today the wind has blown away the clouds and the typical air of January, cold and bitter, has given us a divine sunset.
This is one of the peculiarities of Positano: you never know what the nature gives you and the country becomes wonderful in all its aspects.
I conclude with a quote from John Steinbeck, taken from an article published on the Harpe’s Bazaar in 1953:
“Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone”.
Walking around the fjord of Furore (Amalfi Coast)

I love spending free time walking around.
This time I decided to go with Andrea (my boyfriend) to the beach Furore. Of course January is not the right month to have a swim, but around one of the most famous bays of the Amalfi Coast there are some nice paths to do.
One of the walks I liked most is called “Sentiero dei pipistrelli impazziti” (Path of the crazy bats) and it consists in a nice and comfortable walk inside the woods behind the fjord of Furore. You can start the walk from the beach of Furore or, in case you like a good workout, you can take some steps situated after a petrol pump on the left (5 minutes walking on the road, direction Conca dei Marini).
As the path is easy and short, we decided to leave our car at the beach of La Praia, just a km before the Fjord and we walked along the road to Amalfi. The road itself is full of surprises. The first things you notice in La Praia are the nativity scenes made by locals in natural caves then, while walking, an incredible big rock with a shape of a woman appears to you! The rock is called “la madonnina” (the small statue of the Virgin Mary) and looks like the Virgin Mary with a bouquet of flowers in her hands (the bouquet is the only plant growth on the top of that rock). Local fishermen believe the rock protects them from evil spirits.
And, of course, the Amalfi Coast turns are amazing (be careful when you walk or drive there).
When we arrived at the fjord, we decided to walk a bit further and we took some steps to St. Elia’s Church. Then we started the path of the crazy bats. The path is immersed in the beautiful mediterranean nature and goes down to the beach of Furore. During the walk it is possible to admire a papermill and some old small canals before arriving to the beautiful fishing village with yellow and pink houses carved into the rock.
The sea was rough and none was there, we enjoyed the music of the waves and an incredibly warm winter sun.

Yesterday I had a beautiful walk to Santa Maria del Castello: it was sunny and warm and it didn’t look like a november day.
I really enjoyed it, especially while walking in the quite and very good path that from Positano goes to Santa Maria del Castello (a village above Positano).
It reminded me when I was 12 and I used to go there with my school friends: all the colors and the perfumes of nature brought me back to middle school time.

Positano today was:
a man deeply absorbed in thought,
a dog with differents names which I call Johnnie Walker,
a group of japanese taking pictures all over,
a plant blooming after 3 rainy days,
a painting confused with reality,
a lovely cat,
a palm dancing with the wind,
a couple enjoying the sun,
a pair of sunglasses left on the beach,
fishermen, babies and other locals loving their town,
a magnificent sunset which reminds us summer has gone and the town belongs to us again.

About a month ago, I was walking with a family on the Path of the Gods and we found a beautiful black kitten.
It was a black cat with magnetic yellow eyes and we started petting it. Five minutes later, the kitten was following us mewing and eating lizards. I was a bit confused: the cat was acting like a dog and even if other people on the path tried to give him food (it was a male) he didn’t care and went on..he followed us to Nocelle, after 6 km walking.
I thought to adopt the kitten but I went to Positano and, when I arrived by night in Nocelle, the cat was gone!
Two weeks later, I brought my nephew to a friend’s Party. As soon as I entered the door a cat mewed while walking towards me: it was the beautiful black kitten with magnetic yellow eyes!
